In this expansion, The […]. Watching the elephants being bathed in the river was fun as was the walk around the local village. Date of stay: March Value.
Amy W wrote a review Nov Waste of time and money, do NOT recommend! My friends and I came to Nepal primarily for trekking but had a few extra days at the end of our trip. We decided to check out the jungle and booked a 2 night, 3 day tour with the Island Jungle Resort We weren't expecting anything too fancy as we had spent the last 12 days trekking to remote villages and were perfectly satisfied with the guest houses and village food and accommodations along the way.
Turns out that we were more impressed by these village guest houses than this resort. The food here isn't edible. Slimy cabbage, cold potatoes, warm milk and corn flakes, creepy sausage, and cold, slimy chowmein were a few of the menu items in the buffet line.
All of it was "organic" though so that was reassuring We were so hungry at the end of each meal that we had to sneak out of the compound and go find snacks in the nearby village.
We found a nice store with cute, friendly people and they sold us enough cookies to last through the rest of our stay- I would recommend these cookies to anyone!
The schedule is very set and they wake you up each morning which is highly unnecessary. We aren't at an elementary school camp. We know breakfast is at 7 and will be in the dining room at 7, there is no need for you to come knocking at our door at to wake us up.
The activities were decent. We were able to do the jungle safari on the elephant which was a neat experience. The village walk was also interesting and the boat ride was fine - we saw 1 crocodile and we were "so lucky!!
Didn't know there were so many extinct species and we saw them ALL! Our tour guide, Lama was very annoying so even though the activities were fine, it wasn't worth our dollars or our time.
The activities were short so we had a lot of extra time to kill - got quite boring. If you are an active person who came to Nepal to trek, don't spend any extra days here- I think you will be bored out of your mind.
Date of stay: November Trip type: Traveled with friends. I was a bit apprehensive about doing an elephant ride but after I watched the elephant baths I could see that Nepala had a very good connection with his elephant and how well they were looked after- you could see that he treated his elephant with respect more so than the other 2 elephant riders. The jungle walks were amazing and we felt really safe with our guides, Kanna was so good to us and we loved chatting to him- he has some amazing stories to tell.
We saw so much and were very pleased with our stay, even the food was brilliant- very good Nepali food with lovely staff. Highly recommend! Did the residents leave Obi completely, or move elsewhere on the island? Perhaps the jungle had grown so thick human axes even stone ones! Perhaps people simply moved to the coast and became mainly fishers rather than hunters.

We will hopefully find the answers to some of these questions when we return to Obi next year, COVID permitting, to excavate some coastal caves. What is Quantum Technology?
